John C. Schulte, Master Builder

John's (above photo, far left) experience includes working at Ford Engineering in the experimental department in Dearborn, Michigan where he worked with the engineers to create new products. He removed car bodies and “cobbled” the frames to accept turbine engines, then reinstalled the bodies.

He also worked with the engineer that designed the retractable hardtop and air suspension. He helped with the Ford Futura concept car, which later became the Bat Mobile in the popular 1960’s television version of Batman.

In addition to working on cars, John also taught Automotive at Boys Republic and was an advisor for the Auto Dept. at Monroe Community College with Jack Roush.

John has built five kit cars himself, including a 1929 Bugatti on a VW chassis, which he traded for a MK X Jaguar that he eventually donated to Muscular Dystrophy when he owned 7-Eleven stores.

John also built a replica of a 1929 Mercedes Gazelle from Antique and Collectible Autos, Inc. in Buffalo, New York. He built the Gazelle for a dentist because the dentist said it would not look good to put his fingers in a patient’s mouth after his hands were beat up from building the car. He also built a Jaguar XK120 from an Eagle Coachwork kit. He and his business partner, Jerry Huttula, recently finished two 1934 Ford convertibles. Please click here to see photos.

Jerry spent 18 years at Anderson Sales & Service in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, the World’s Largest Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki & Kawasaki Dealer, as well as a Toyota & Honda Auto Dealer.

Although Jerry has spent the past 16 years owning and operating pizza restaurants, he has recently enjoyed filling up his already busy days helping John build the cars. Apparently, you can take the man out of the shop, but you can't take the shop out of the man.

Jerry has a keen eye for details and sees to it that our cars have everything they need -- right down to the fuzzy dice hanging from the rear view mirror!
